Preparing for a holiday is an exciting time, but there are many things to consider when travelling overseas: including passport, tickets, money, medical, hospital, emergency and repatriation, accommodation, rental vehicle excess, luggage and sporting equipment.
All our Comprehensive International Travel Plans are with QBE Travel Insurance and may be purchased up to 24 months in advance, suitable to cover your early surf camps or boat charter deposits.
Cover for individual surfers, surfing families and groups to over 200 destinations worldwide.
Unlimited cover for pre-paid travel arrangements. Cancellation or holiday deferment costs due to severe weather, natural disasters, riot, strike or civil insurrection, illness or injury before or during your surfing holiday.
Dependant grommets* under 25 years of age now travel free with their families on the International travel plans.
Additional cover for expensive surfboards and quivers under 'Specified Items'
Consider the $NIL excess option on your policy, otherwise you will have to pay $200 for each claim that you make.
If the waves are too epic to go home on time - extensions are available online
You should alway keep a copy of your policy with you as well as at home with a family member, give another copy to your tour guide or boat captain in case of an accident.
You must contact QBE Assist if you expect the costs of the claim will be in excess of $2,000

Additional Benefits you can purchase
Specified Items: To cover items worth more than the item limit of $700. Cover up to $6,000 per item, maximum total for all items $15,000
Additional Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess: Cover can be increased to $5,000. Additional $20 per $500 units of cover
Excess: Consider the $NIL excess option to cover your surfboards (less depreciation) otherwise you will have to pay $200 for each claim made.

International Travel Plans - Guidelines
The International premium amount payable is PER ADULT. A maximum of 2 adults can be named on a Certificate of Insurance. Please include the dates for departure from your residence and return to your residence when calculating your duration.
Accompanying financially dependant * child/children, grandchildren, step children, nieces and nephews under 25 years of age are covered at no additional cost.
The International Travel Plan must be issued prior to the commencement of your trip. Not available to travellers outside of Australia.
The premium payable depends on your age and destination. If you are cruising for more than 4 consecutive days you must select the cruising option.
Existing Medical Conditions 'EMC'
If you are applying for an International Travel Plan you must tell QBE if you or anyone in your travelling party has an existing medical condition (EMC) other than those automatically covered. Available online when quoting. If your application is approved you will be advised of any restrictions or excess that may apply and may be asked to pay an additional premium.
Existing Medical Conditions of a Non Travelling Relative or Business Partner 'NTR'
Provided they are under 80 years of age you may apply to cover an EMC of a relative or business partner if their state of health could disrupt your travel plans even though they are not travelling with you.

Cooling off Period ... If, having purchased the policy, you want to return it, you can do so within 21 days of receiving the Certificate of Insurance and obtain a full refund, provided no claim has been made and your trip has not commenced. The Cooling Off Period does not apply to policy or trip extensions.
